January 20, 2015We will be married 40 years next June and want a couple of our children and their spouses, my parents and my aunt and uncle to just do our own simple renewal standing on the beach at sunset. Do we have to get Disney involved for that? We will be staying at Aulani but don’t want a formal ceremony. What do you think?

January 20, 2015Congratulations on your milestone anniversary! I can tell you that we got hassled by Ko Olina security just for taking pictures in our vow renewal clothes on the beach at Aulani, even though we had paid for the official Disney package and our planner later told us they weren’t supposed to do that. So I fear that conducting an actual ceremony without even the protection of Disney will get you hassled at the least and ejected at the worst. You could try finding another beach location, or maybe just have a simple ceremony in your room. I think repeating your vows on a balcony with one of Aulani’s fabulous views would be lovely!

February 25, 2014Hi Cathy! Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings has doubled the price of a packaged wedding/vow renewal event at Aulani since we had our vow renewal last year. It now starts at $3,900, even though you don’t get anything more than what came in the package we got. Ours was the two of us, plus our two friends, who shot photos for us. I think a vow renewal with your three kids would be a wonderful, memorable family event!
