Hello, I have a couple questions about these sites. I really would like to do a wishes dessert party as wishes has always been special to me. I plan on only having 20 guests- I’m assuming given that the courtyard would be the best bet? I don’t want the space to feel huge with such a small party- is 20 too small for either place?
Also, I know wishes has viewing locations at the GF as well, which would you recommend is a better viewing spot? and best for a 20 person guest list?
Also, do you kow if there is a price breakdown anywhere for decor upgrades for dessert parties?
Thanks so much!!!
Hi! The Courtyard/Patio is where they’d put you with only 20 guests, but I don’t think it would feel too big. I do think the Marina or Sago Cay at the Grand Floridian would be better spots for Wishes viewing. There’s a whoooooole lotta parking lot in the view at the Contemporary, and the fireworks are definitely not as close as they look in the silly Photoshopped image of the venue that DFTW sends out. The GF is farther away from the fireworks, but at least there’s a lot of pretty, reflective water between the two. For your group size, they would put you at Sago Cay. There are no official price breakdowns for decor upgrades because there are just too many options and almost everything is custom. Your best bet is the Disney Event Group website, which shows examples of centerpieces by price point and also options for linens, chairs, glow items, etc.
The glow furniture has a minimum of $800, and a package of three sofas, two matching chairs, three glow tables,
and seven pillows runs $2,400. Not sure about those comfy chairs… I suppose they could have just been dragged in from the convention center, but I’ve never seen them there.
Wow that’s an awesome place! Quick question though, would the menus for this location be the same as the California Grill menus or would they be customized?
Catering is done by the Contemporary’s catering department, not California Grill, so the menus are completely customizable. They could probably try to re-create something from CA Grill’s menu, though, if that’s what you’re after.
Yes! Having Wishes’ soundtrack costs the same as it does at the Grand Floridian. The DJ should be OK, but there may be restrictions on how late s/he can play due to proximity to guest rooms.
I believe it’s the large tables and white or black tablecloths like in the photos at the bottom of the page. The party pictured at the top of the page had a lot of upgrades.

March 12, 2013I know you stated the food and beverage minimums above but is there a venue rental fee for the Porte Cochere? Thank you
Carrie

Laura
March 12, 2013Thank you! We are quite interested in using this venue for a dessert party.

March 13, 2013Does the standard setup come with the white draping shown in the pics above or is that an extra charge?
Carrie
March 13, 2013They charge extra for that.

February 18, 2013How far in advance can you book a dessert party at the Contemporary, Grand Floridian, or Epcot?
Carrie
February 18, 2013Six months, although some locations can’t be contracted until 3 months or 1 month or even 2 weeks out. But you can definitely get started at 6 months.

December 12, 2012Thanks Carrie! You always know your stuff! I just know that for the Napa and Somona rooms they take from the CG restaurant and I was curious. 🙂
Carrie
December 12, 2012Ah, yes! CA Grill’s iron fist only extends as far as its own private rooms. LOL!

December 3, 2012Hello again!
(can you tell I am intrigued by this place?)
Do you know if you can have the music to wishes piped in, or if you can have a DJ?
As always, thanks!
Carrie

Thanks again!
Carrie
