OK, you guys, this may be my longest trip report update EVER. It’s just that we went five amazing places and had five amazing experiences, any one of which would be a full trip update unto itself, but they were all on the same day!
I apologize in advance if you must resort to artificial stimulants to make it to the end. Hopefully it’ll give you some idea whether any of these spots should be on your London itinerary: Westminster Abbey, The Banqueting House, Harrods, Buckingham Palace and The Ritz!

March 20, 2018I can’t believe this is just the first full day! What a fabulous installment! I am so impressed with the level of detail you include. Do you take notes every day while on your trips? I am so guilty of taking a million pictures, then getting home and only remembering what about half of them are.

March 20, 2018Me too! It helps that I’ve been writing in a journal every night since I was about 12, so I have those entries to help jog my memory. But I was amazed at how many little details started to come back just by going through the photos. Also, Patrick decided to keep a journal on this trip too, and he’s letting me read it. It’s pretty hilarious, so some of that (or maybe even the sketches) might make it into this trip report!

March 19, 2018Hi Carrie,
To be able to go on this trip, you must have had all your toys picked up AND your pants on!
I totally enjoyed this history lesson. I learned what regicide meant and which king it affected.
Why was Harrods a controversial tribute site for Princess Diana?
We are going to have to check out “Monarchy” Is that a PBS program?
I’m looking forward to your next chapter…
Love,
Mama

March 19, 2018LOL! Yes, I did have my pants on, at least! The Princess Di tribute seems to be controversial because a lot of people think it’s tacky. But then another lot of people love it. Monarchy was shown on PBS here in the US. We can lend you our DVD set!

March 19, 2018We would love to borrow your DVD set! Maybe Patrick can bring it when he comes up.
Was there a dress code for touring all of these royal sites and where you ate?
Carrie
March 19, 2018Jacket and tie required for gentlemen at The Ritz. I don’t recall there being a dress code at Buckingham Palace.

March 19, 2018How about for women? I don’t own any dresses or skirts.
Carrie
March 19, 2018You don’t have to wear a dress. You just can’t wear your jeans or your sweatpants that say “Juicy” on the butt.
