The Fabulous Sounds of Christmas at Disneyland! (Al’s Version)

Hello there! I know it’s been a while… Holding down a full-time job, producing the Disney Wedding Podcast, and maintaining the Fairytale Weddings Guide doesn’t leave me much time to dig through thousands of 7-year-old photos looking for the one of the best croissant I ever ate (although our pre-inferno shots of Notre Dame could be worth a search)!

However, last Christmas astute reader Kitty left a comment about how the track listing for my The Fabulous Sounds of Christmas at Disneyland! album didn’t match up with the track listing in Al Lutz’s Mice Age post that inspired it. In my defense, Al updated his track listing the year after I assembled mine, and I just didn’t feel like redoing all that work. In fact, while it turned out that Lawrence Welk’s version of “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” is not actually part of Disneyland’s Christmas loop, after 14 years of hearing those plucky plucked strings in my mix, I’m just not willing to give it up.

Instead—and in honor of the inimitable and dearly missed Al Lutz—I offer you a completely (sorta) new album, The Fabulous Sounds of Christmas at Disneyland! (Al’s Version). Not only does this version include the missing track “The First Noel” from A Music Box Christmas (and exclude “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” by poor Larry Welk), it is also sequenced exactly as Al’s was after he sat on a bench in The Hub listening to the music loop all day.

Interestingly, while I took pains to sequence my album’s tracks in a way that wouldn’t repeat songs or artists back-to-back, the cast member who labored over the track sequence in 1972 had no such compunction! Disneyland’s track sequence frequently groups songs by the same artist and plays “Ihr Kinderlein Kommet” twice in a row.

If you still wanna hear my version (including “Believe… In Holiday Magic” from Disneyland’s holiday fireworks show), you can listen to and download all the tracks and album art in this post.

Otherwise, scroll down, sit back, relax, and enjoy… The Fabulous Sounds of Christmas at Disneyland! (Al’s Version)
